While you compose documents that are going to be observed by others, you intend to check your writing to make sure that it's wise grammatically. Perhaps you are creating an essay for school, making posts on your website or working on a company project. (more…)

“Agile”

What should teams try and improve on ? Do you need KRAs? Are KRA or goals mythical ?
One of my "manager" friends read my thoughts on "don't compare story points". He responded with questions like -
What should teams then try to improve?
Why would we need KRAs then?
Are we saying that KRAs are mythical?
Well, this is an interesting topic on its own. So I thanked him for providing me another topic for a separate blog :-) Here are my thoughts on this topic -
Let me start with an example. Let's say that you go for a "brisk walk" every day. A few days back you came across a person who went past you, walking, and in no time distance between two of you was quite some! T...

Don’t compare story points across teams. But why not??
Yesterday, I came across yet another "typical" conversation with a "senior management" who is in charge of multiple projects in an organization. He said that he wanted to compare defects per story point of various teams under his portfolio. He said that as a centre head he wanted to know how is each team doing with respect to quality of software being delivered.
Well, I asked him, if story points themselves are not comparable across teams, so then, how can defects per story point (aka defect density) be comparable? And he picked up that point and said, that is why he hates story points! Bec...

I am PMP just because Sachin's teaching skill!
I am techie at work - mostly play with technology and tools on day to day basis. I do manage people or project but that's for short period of time. That's not my regular activity.
Attending Sachin's sessions were instrumental for me to achieve the PMP certification in first attempt. He has hidden skills to present the topic, hidden skills to make you understand any hard subject. His perfect style of making sessions interactive was real help.
He is definitely a good teacher, good coach! Kind of Guru when it comes to help you understan...

Actually I am short of words to explain Sachin’s unique way of training. Any trainer can learn from Sachin how to turn a boring subject into an interesting, facts based and very interactive and participative discussion.
Sachin have a commendable knowledge on the PMP gathered thru his professional and training experience. Sachin has a unique method to connect the topics and he prepare the ground before landing on any specific topic due to which you will never feel disconnected.
I would recommend to undergo training with Sachin at least once to experience his unique method of training.

Sachin shared many real life Agile practices, working experience which made us easy to relate to what we were learning in class - PMI-ACP. Sachin also made us participate in a lot of hands on activities such as creating user stories, planning poker games, using task board and many more which helps with visualization that makes PMI-ACP learning modules come alive.

The structure of the workshop was conceived and designed in a very logical fashion and covered quite a lot of project management concepts with proper focus from the exam point of view. The interesting and relevant examples presented by Sachin while explaining dry concepts helped me visualize scenarios and relate to my work-day experiences.
It also helped me digest PMBOK more easily which I could not have imagined to gulp otherwise. Sachin's workshop gave me a direction and a head-start to plan and obtain my PMP credentials successfully. Thank you Sachin for the wonderful training experienc...

They Say Agile Is Different! So, tell me what’s different? – Part 2
Do regular but small studies throughout the term and not just a few weeks before the exam!
There is something called “Student Syndrome”. Remember how we used to study during our college days? :-) The study was always “work in progress” or in other words “unfinished”. Any time during the term if anyone asks “how is the study going? How much is complete?”, the answer would be in terms of some vague percentage! Reality was that the bulk of studies would happen a few weeks before the exams.
You can relate this situation to any project. Ask any PM of any project “how is the study going? How...
